Anger Management Children
Poor anger management skills can have a significant impact on all of your relationships, ranging from your family relationships, to your professional relationships, and even to relationships with your family pet.
Having an uncontrollable anger problem leads people to form many unflattering opinions about you that have a lasting impact. Even if you do seek treatment for anger management problems, it will still be a long time before people can learn to enjoy your company again.
The majority of people thrive on stability. Even if they lead wild and crazy lifestyles they still like their relationships to have some notion of stability. They usually understand other people’s motivations and can expect a certain response to thrive for.
Unfortunately, people with anger management problems are notoriously unstable and thus make it difficult for people to feel secure in any form of a relationship. In the short term, this can lead to people distancing themselves from you if you constantly exhibit signs of anger management problems. In the long-term, you will downright lose these relationships and sometimes find them irrevocably broken.
People with anger management issues also exhibit behavior that is contrary to the social norms that make people comfortable. Because of this, these individuals will find their friends and families distancing themselves to avoid awkward and uncomfortable social situations where the limelight is put directly on them. This comes about since they are associated with the person who is breaking these social norms.
For better or for worse, social norms are an accepted set of rules that govern the way people interact in a broad number of settings. Anyone who upsets the social norms is generally perceived as an outcast by the rest of society.
An easier way to think about this concept is to compare the person with anger management problems to one of the outcasts that everyone knew in high school. In high school, teenagers that do not comply with the social norms are rarely seen as being anything other than someone to avoid at all costs. This is mainly for fear of being too closely associated with an unpopular individual. Likewise, people with anger management problems will face the same form of social discrimination. They’ll find themselves without many supporters, except for the most devoted friends or family.
In many ways, individuals with anger management problems are similar to people who have drug or alcohol problems. Just like these individuals find themselves without friends or family, so too will people with anger management issues. While the problems themselves are very different, the symptoms are quite similar, at least in the broader scope of things.
Alcoholics, drug addicts, and people with anger management problems universally make it difficult and downright uncomfortable for people to form close meaningful relationships. In fact, not only is it difficult to form close relationships, but even casual relationships are difficult with people who do not adhere to what is considered to be accepted behavior.
Unfortunately, there are no positive aspects to befriending someone with anger management problems, so the detrimental effect on your relationships will be quick and sudden if you do not immediately seek help for any anger management issues.
